Prepress & Preflight

Lotem pantone book loop

TURSACK offers a complete conventional and electronic prepress service. Our prepress department utilizes the very latest in technology with multiplatform workflows including Mac and Microsoft with a Rampage RIP. With proven color expertise and ORIS Press matcher, you can count on consistent color on all your print projects each and every time.

PreFlight:
Our PreFlight department helps to smooth out the production workflow. PreFlight checks for such things as missing fonts and images, proper file formats, resolution and correct color modes (CMYK vs. RGB). This inspection of your file(s) ensures that the job is ready for production.

Desktop Publishing:
TURSACK's desktop operators work on Mac's and PCs. The Macintosh environment remains the industry-preferred platform for Desktop Publishing.

Scanning:
The Scanning Department contains a retouching and color correction station for any necessary color adjustments once the scan has been captured.

RIP:
Our state-of-the-art Rampage RIP provides a single front end across all of our output systems.

Proofing:
Three Epson proofers housed in a climate-controlled environment are used for color approval. These are 4-up units, which can be tiled to create two proofs for an 8-up imposition. We have taken great care and many hours of color calibrating to recreate the results expected on press. We also have two IRIS 43WIDE color digital proofers used to replace the conventional blueline proof. These units back up the sheet so that jobs can be booked up to check content and page position.

Plating / Stochastic Printing:
Two Lotem 800V Digital Platesetters and A Spectrum Trendsetter allow us to print a much higher quality job. We can keep three quarter tone areas open, resulting in more detail on the press sheet. This first generation plate produces a much sharper dot. In addition to conventional screening techniques we are also equipped to produce plates using frequency modulation (FM) screening, also known as Stochastic printing. This process uses dots spread throughout the image area and varies the density ratio to create an image that is closer to continuous tone than conventional halftone processes, which uses a more grid-like
alignment of dots. The Lotem's automated processor and plate stacker exposes, develops and stacks plates ensuring against damage. Plates are inspected for content and quality, then move to Quality Control for a second inspection before printing.

In addition to the Lotem platesetters, we have a Dolev 800V in our film plotting area. Our 800V is loaded with 2 large rolls of film for plotting.
